Easter People Raise Your Voices

Easter people raise your voices, sounds of heaven in earth should ring.
Christ has brought us heaven's choices, heavenly music let it ring.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Easter people, let it sing.
...
Every day to us is Easter, with its resurrection song.
When in trouble move the faster to our God who rights the wrong.
Alleluia! Alleluia! See the power of heavenly throngs.

This Easter post is a few days late, but as the hymn says, "every day to us is Easter."

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. I love the long anticipated celebration after 40 days of Lent. I love that we don our finest and bring in brass and tympani to rejoice the holy mystery of the Resurrection. This Easter was extra special.

We took H to his first church service and he did great. I had to stand and sway with him for a bit and he and Daddy missed communion for a mid morning snack, but overall, he was a champ. There is something very moving about experiencing the hope of Easter Sunday with a newborn in your arms.

After church we had the first of what will be many Campbell family holiday photo shoots. For the most part, H tolerated the paparazzi, also known has his parents. When the baby fell asleep C and I enjoyed a special Easter lunch fit especially for new parents with no time to cook -- a rotisserie chicken from Whole Foods, instant mashed potatoes, and English peas. It was an easy breezy meal, much different from our Easter brunches of the past. In our defense, the peas were fresh and C did make a cake (from a box).

Here are a few pictures from Sunday.

And in an attempt to keep this real, here are some outtakes.

Happy Easter!
